With a lineup that includes the vintage musical “Kiss Me, Kate” and an all-male “Taming of the Shrew” starring “Kinky Boots” Tony winner Billy Porter, the Shakespeare Theatre Company is the first major D.C. troupe to release its 2015-16 season. The announcement includes the STC’s contribution to Washington’s citywide Women’s Voices Festival in the fall: a new version of “Salome” by writer-director Yael Farber, whose South African adaptation of August Strindberg’s “Miss Julie” (re-titled “Mies Julie”) was hosted by the STC last year.
The season will feature six productions, plus a Free for All revival of last winter’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
