HE MAY ONLY be 51 but Dominic Dromgoole has already run several of Britain’s hot-ticket theater companies. Artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe, Mr. Dromgoole recently launched a big new project, “Globe to Globe Hamlet,” taking the play to every country in the world.
How did this project come about?
It grew out of our previous big ambitious project in 2012…. We staged 37 Shakespeare plays in 37 countries and languages. We wanted to carry on the international relationships we’d formed, of course, but the idea of Shakespeare’s reach cutting across national boundaries is one of those ideas whose power lies in its simplicity.
