Q Brothers Perform Their “Othello: The Remix” inside Chicago’s Cook County Jail

Chicago:

Shakespeare Central Exclusive:

This re-telling of the Othello story, completely re-written in hip hop rhyme was one of the sensations of 2012’s Globe to Globe Festival in London.  Produced by The Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, “Othello: The Remix is a stunning and powerful telling of Shakespeare’s story.  Othello is portrayed not as a soldier, but as ‘the world’s greatest rapper’.  The London performances were all sold out at Shakespeare’s Globe, and now the Q Brothers have taken the performance, slightly updated into Chicago’s Cook County Jail.  The audience included both male and female prisoners, and was received with great enthusiasm.
