Shakespeare inspired properties celebrate the birth of the Bard

Do not be surprised if you catch sight of some children sporting ruffs and codpieces this week, or if your eight-year-old shouts: “What bloody man is this?” when father arrives home, for this is the first Shakespeare Week, marking 450 years since the birth of the Bard.

Primary schools throughout Britain will celebrate the life and times of this paragon of playwrights, with millions of children visiting theatres, historic sites, museums, galleries and even cinemas to discover and enjoy his heritage. So to mark the event, we scoured Britain for homes that also celebrate his fame.

Arguably the Bard’s most famous play, Romeo And Juliet is the tragic story of the star-crossed lovers from rival houses.

Apart from all the spin-offs, West Side Story and Shakespeare In Love among them, the play has given its name to a balcony thanks to the scene where Romeo climbs up to his lover’s room at night.[…continued] Read Full Story
